Prof. Xiangjian He, University of Nottingham Ningbo, China

Bio:

Professor Xiangjian (Sean) He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Technology Sydney in 1999. He is currently the Deputy Head of Computer Science School and the Director of Computer Vision and Intelligent Perception Laboratory at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC).He is in list of the 'World Top 2% Scientists' reported by Stanford University in 2022.

He was the Professor of Computer Science and the Leader of Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Laboratory at the Global Big Data Technologies Centre (GBDTC) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) from 2011-2022.  He was an IEEE Signal Processing Society Student Committee member. He was involved in a team receiving a UTS Chancellor's Award for Research Excellence through Collaboration in 2018. He has been awarded 'Internationally Registered Technology Specialist' by International Technology Institute (ITI). He led the UTS and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) joint research project teams winning the 1st Runner-Up prize for the 2017 VIP Cup, and the champion for the 2019 VIP Cup, awarded by IEEE Signal Processing Society. In 2021, the team, PolyUTS, led by Prof Lam of PolyU and co-led by Prof He of UTS again won the 1st Runner-Up award for the 2021 VIP Cup. He has been carrying out research mainly in the areas of computer vision, data analytics and machine learning in the previous years. He has recently been leading his research teams for deep-learning-based research for human behavious recognition, human counting and density estimation, tiny object detection, biomedical applications, saliency detection, natural language processing, cybersecurity, face and face expression recognition, road sign detection, license plate recognition, etc. He has played various chair roles in many international conferences such as ACM MM, MMM, ICDAR, IEEE BigDataSE, IEEE BigDataService, IEEE TrustCom, IEEE CIT, IEEE AVSS, IEEE ICPR and IEEE ICARCV.

Prof. Xiangtao Li, Jilin University, China

Bio:

Dr. Xiangtao Li is a professor at the School of Artificial Intelligence, Jilin University, and a National Young Talent. He was selected as one of MIT Technology Review’s “China Intelligent Computing Innovators” and has been ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide for five consecutive years. He has led projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China—both the General Program and the Young Scientists Program—as well as Jilin Province’s Youth and General Funds, accumulating over 6 million CNY in government-funded research grants. In recent years, he has published more than 150 papers as the first or corresponding author in journals and conferences such as Nature Communications (3 papers), Advanced Science (6 papers), Nucleic Acids Research (1 paper), Bioinformatics, PLoS Computational Biology, IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, and AAAI. His research areas include AI4Science, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data analysis, and dynamic prediction of proteins and RNAs. According to Google Scholar, his publications have been cited over 4,200 times, and he holds an H-index of 35. Notably, one of his papers was recognized as an ESI Highly Cited Paper (placing it in the top 1% by citation count), with his most cited paper receiving 300 citations, and nine papers having over 100 citations each. Under his leadership, his team secured two provincial-level Natural Science Achievement Awards, in which he contributed as both the primary and secondary contributor. Reflecting the recent progress in evolutionary computation and unsupervised learning algorithms at home and abroad, he authored the English monograph Natural Computing for Unsupervised Learning, published by Springer. He is also serving as an Area Chair for NeurIPS 2024 and holds editorial positions—such as associate editor or board member—at several international SCI journals, including BMC Biology (a top-tier journal as per the Chinese Academy of Sciences classification), BMC Bioinformatics (CCF C), and BMC Genomics.
