Dr. Xiangtao Li is a professor at the School of Artificial Intelligence, Jilin University, and a National Young Talent. He was selected as one of MIT Technology Review’s “China Intelligent Computing Innovators” and has been ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide for five consecutive years. He has led projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China—both the General Program and the Young Scientists Program—as well as Jilin Province’s Youth and General Funds, accumulating over 6 million CNY in government-funded research grants. In recent years, he has published more than 150 papers as the first or corresponding author in journals and conferences such as Nature Communications (3 papers), Advanced Science (6 papers), Nucleic Acids Research (1 paper), Bioinformatics, PLoS Computational Biology, IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, and AAAI. His research areas include AI4Science, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data analysis, and dynamic prediction of proteins and RNAs. According to Google Scholar, his publications have been cited over 4,200 times, and he holds an H-index of 35. Notably, one of his papers was recognized as an ESI Highly Cited Paper (placing it in the top 1% by citation count), with his most cited paper receiving 300 citations, and nine papers having over 100 citations each. Under his leadership, his team secured two provincial-level Natural Science Achievement Awards, in which he contributed as both the primary and secondary contributor. Reflecting the recent progress in evolutionary computation and unsupervised learning algorithms at home and abroad, he authored the English monograph Natural Computing for Unsupervised Learning, published by Springer. He is also serving as an Area Chair for NeurIPS 2024 and holds editorial positions—such as associate editor or board member—at several international SCI journals, including BMC Biology (a top-tier journal as per the Chinese Academy of Sciences classification), BMC Bioinformatics (CCF C), and BMC Genomics.
